What are COACHES?
A bit of history…
Person Centered Thinking (PCT) Coaching is a model of training and development that Liberty Corner has adopted and is committed to spreading and sustaining throughout our organization and into our community partnerships.
In September 2007, Liberty Corner began to work with Support Development Associates (SDA) and The Learning Community in a NC state-sponsored pilot project focusing on becoming a Person Centered Organization. This was a three year relationship that lead our agency to begin a journey of learning through PCT skills, tools, and a coaching model.
Our first group of direct support staff to participate in Coaches training classes began in 2010 and we continued to expand that group in 2011.
Where are we now???
We currently have 18 direct support staff attending Coaches training meetings on a monthly basis.
These meetings consist of practicing PCT skills and tools, applying these skills and tools to enhance people’s lives and spread this philosophy throughout our staffing teams. Our goal as a COACH is to move our knowledge of these skills from practice to habit, so that each person receiving person centered supports from our staff also moves from having a good paid life to a life in the community of their choice.
